The Gardens:

Bridges and weirs

The grounds at West Wycombe are considered among the most perfect examples of the Natural Landscape school of gardening.

This bridge crosses the river between the lake and sawmill house, it was built for Sir Edward's 21st birthday and was copied from a painting of the park by William Hannan (an etching copy of which is below).

The gardens were constantly evolving throughout the 1700s under the direction of such names as Revett, Repton, and significantly Cook who was a pupil of Capability Brown.
